Back then, in the early days (and still) the most prominent way of getting new listing is through searching through a particular website on private listings to reach out to owners and get that same listings to be up on our-own agent’s platform listing. It is the most common way and method used by all the agents to get their listing.
Another way is distributing flyers with the caption that you have prospects looking for a property in a particular areas and if there’s any owners wants to sell or rent their property to contact us.
From 2014 to 2016, i was actively doing the latter to get new fresh listings. It is really hardwork, that you need to walk under the sun to distribute the printed flyers with your contact on it from door to door. It is not like that you need to knock on the door and ask the owner one by one but distribute the flyers in the mailbox, each and every houses.
There was this one case, in 2014, a prospect of mine contacted me and request if i can approach one of the house in her neighbourhood and ask the owner if he is willing to sell his house. It was a double storey corner house with a small piece of land to it.
Initially i was thinking to write the owner a letter and put inside the mailbox, but later on i decided just to knock the gate or press the bell, and when the owner came out from his house, i told him that i have a prospect interested with his house and willing to make an offer. Well, the owner did not accept it and firmly declined the offer. Not all lost, i gained a good friendship with that owner that will last for a decade. We become good friends however and fast forward, i helped sell few of his properties along the way. One was a land.
I still do the flyers distribution from time to time, for selected properties that needed an extra boost to market it. I take pride in hardwork, sweat and tears.
